What I am learning most? Patience!

Updated: Mar 31, 2023

You ever want something so badly that you can see it, visualize it, and almost taste it? But sometimes, the things that you want in life are not completely based on your own efforts. Sometimes, your wants and desires are in the hands of someone else. You try to build momentum and do the best that you can to manifest progress, but there are times when you just need to wait. That is where I am right now.

  1. I am waiting on all final sketches from the illustrators that I have reached out to in order to make a final decision on who will illustrate my book

  2. My manuscript is going through the 1st round of edits

  3. I am waiting on production estimates to finalize my budget

  4. And all of the above will help me to finalize my project plan and timeline

I should have the above complete by next week, but until then, I research and make connections. I have been an active member in some great author groups on apps like Facebook and Clubhouse that have introduced me to some amazing people and resources. The timing could not be better! For those of you who know me personally, I could never begin a project before considering the "lessons learned" from those who have ventured as authors before me. Publishing my stories is a huge commitment and sacrifice. Why waste time, effort, and resources unnecessarily? Why rush it? This book series to too important to me to be executed hastily. As I always say, "Haste makes waste."

I do think I am on track to have everything done by the end of this year, and I look forward to updating everyone on the timeline soon. The below sketch is a reference board that was put together by one of the illustrators that I am working with. The photo is the top right is an actual photo of Obinna (my son) holding that same yellow baby blankie and how he used to carry it around everywhere we went. It is so exciting to see the development process of Super Obi and all other character development. I will continue to share these samples with you as time goes and I am so grateful for all the progress that has already been made!
